Energy Boosting Holiday Decorating

Watch the video for three simple ways to boost the energy in your home using festive décor. It is so great to decorate at the holidays because it gives you an excuse to bring in extra special colour, textures, and scents. Here are some of my favorite feng shui beneficial festive decorating elements:

  1. Yang energy: A bowl of oranges on the kitchen counter.

  2. Abundance: A touch of red on your front door/entry decorations.

  3. Vital growth: Fresh bows of greenery or a fresh tree brings in the vital energy of the wood element.

Question from our Facebook group: Where would be a good feng shui spot to place my Christmas tree?

My first answer is, anywhere that it fits so you won’t trip over it. Once you have met that criteria you could try one of the following:

  • The centre of the home or a living room: this is actually where mine ends up (it also happens to work out well from a layout standpoint). It allows Christmas cheer to resonant throughout the entire home.
  • The family area of the living room: to focus on bringing the family closer together and boost the wood energy
  • Where you can see when you open the front door: this is such great energy booster for anyone coming through the door at the end of the day.

Fresh tree versus artificial:

“In the most definitive study of the perennial real vs. fake question, an environmental consulting firm in Montreal found that an artificial tree would have to be reused for more than 20 years to be greener than buying a fresh-cut tree annually. The calculations included greenhouse gas emissions, use of resources and human health impacts.” New York Times
