Nine Star Ki Numerology Forecast for 2026, the Year of the Horse

In feng shui, we often work with the Nine Star Ki, an ancient form of astrology that is sometimes referred to as feng shui astrology. It’s a type of numerology that connects to nine elemental stars. This system is intertwined with the five elements, the feng shui bagua, and the I Ching. Understanding your Nine Star Ki is a simple and graceful way to gain awareness about your own energy, as well as how your qi interacts with the energy of your environment.

Each person has multiple stars in their Nine Star Ki reading, and in this post, we’ll show you how to calculate your principal Nine Star Ki number.

One of the reasons it can be helpful to understand your principal number is that it can give you an idea of what a particular year has in store for you energetically. Each year, you’ll experience a different type of energy based on your Nine Star Ki principal number, and below we’ve shared what that means for you in 2026.

How to calculate your Nine Star Ki

To calculate your principal number in Nine Star Ki, you’ll add up all the digits of your birth year until you reach a single digit number. Then, subtract that number from 11 if you were born after February 4th. If you were born between January 1st and February 4th, you’ll subtract your single-digit number from 12 instead of 11.

For example:

If you were born in 1986 after February 4th: Add: 1+9+8+6 = 24 Reduce to a single digit: 2+4 = 6 Subtract from 11: 11-6 = 5 In this example, your principal number is 5.

If you were born in 1940 between January 1st and February 4th: Add: 1+9+4+0=14 Reduce to a single digit: 1+4=5 Subtract from 12: 7 In this example, your principal number is 7.

1. If your principal number is 1, in 2026 you’ll be in the year of Fluctuation. This year may feel somewhat chaotic, reflecting a period of renewal, rebirth, and transformation. It’s an ideal time to let go of anything that no longer serves you and to embrace opportunities for reinvention.

   As a 1, staying flexible and open to unexpected changes and challenges will be key, allowing you to navigate unfamiliar experiences with curiosity. Approach this year as a chance to explore new paths, discover hidden potentials, and grow in ways you hadn't anticipated.

2. If your principal number is 2, in 2026 you will be in the year of Prosperity. You'll begin to feel more confident, and you’ll be recognized for your skills and your knowledge. The effort that you’ve put in over the last few years will start to be recognized, and you’ll be seen as the expert or the skillful person that you are. You’ll still have to put in effort this year because you’re harvesting the fruits of your labor, but you’ll also start to see things coming to fruition.

   As a 2, this year’s energy will be a little bit draining and outside your comfort zone. Remember that you can make things happen, and you can make your own choices. If there’s a project or initiative that you want to push forward, know that you have the credibility now to do that.

3. If your principal number is 3, in 2026 you’ll be in the year of Celebration. This is a playful year, and it’s a good time to relax and pat yourself on the back for all of the hard work that you’ve been doing over the past few years. This year is also about reflection. You may want to do an internal debrief to see what’s working in your life, and consider anything that has come up for you. Most of all, this is a year to enjoy yourself and have fun!

   As a 3, you might have a hard time adjusting to this year’s softer energy. It can be challenging for you to sit back, relax, and kick your feet up, but you’re going to need to take this time to gear down and pay attention to what comes up for you.

4. If your principal number is 4, in 2026 you’ll be in the year of Stillness. 2026 will unfold with a very quiet, thoughtful, contemplative energy. This is very different from last year’s celebratory energy, which was more about being out in the world. This year, you’ll be inviting in a period of stillness.    As a 7, this year’s energy will feel aligned in many ways. Your naturally joyful nature will be well-supported during this germination phase.
