Everyone seems to love decorating with crystals these days, and we can certainly see why! They come in so many beautiful colors and varieties, and can add a lot of visual interest to a space.

In feng shui, we also value crystals for their energetic properties. While it’s not traditional to work with natural crystals in feng shui, it can be powerful to bring them into your space with feng shui intentions. Crystals as a whole represent the earth element, since they come from the ground. This makes them a great way to introduce more earth energy into your home. Different types of crystals also have different colors and qualities that make them well-suited to certain feng shui applications.

Note: We’re talking about natural crystals in this post, not the faceted feng shui crystal balls made of glass.

How to Choose Crystals

When you’re looking for crystals, or any items that you’re purchasing for an energetic purpose, it’s important to consider where they are coming from. Be curious about the origin of your crystals, and try to source them ethically.

If you’re not sure which crystal to bring into your home, trust your intuition. Notice which stones you feel called to, and start there. After you feel like you’ve connected with a particular crystal, you can always look up the meaning and see how it might apply to your circumstances.

You can also choose a crystal by thinking of an intention you have, like boosting your confidence or increasing your wealth, and finding a crystal with energetic properties that support that intention. To help you get started, here are a few of our favorite crystals to work with in feng shui, and how to get started with them in your home:

Feng Shui Crystals for Grounding and Protection

Black tourmaline is a great stone to work with when you want to feel more grounded. It’s connected to the root chakra, and it can protect against electromagnetic fields and negative energy. You may want to bring black tourmaline into your home when you are feeling anxious or worried.

How to work with black tourmaline in feng shui: Try placing a black tourmaline crystal near your front door to create protection for you and your family.

Fancy jasper is another grounding stone that really embodies the qualities of the earth element. You can see this in fancy jasper’s earthy coloring. Its stable, supportive energy offers protection and can help you feel more grounded.

How to work with fancy jasper in feng shui: Wear fancy jasper jewelry or carry a piece of fancy jasper in your pocket to feel grounded and protected at all times.

Feng Shui Crystals for Prosperity and Abundance

Jade has a long history in China and other parts of Asia. It is often used for protection and is also seen as a stone of abundance. While these two things may not seem related at first glance, the more protected and healthy you feel, the more you are able to be prosperous in the world. Jade is also considered a living stone, meaning it has its own qi (life force energy) and is imbued with your qi when you wear it. It’s a good idea to wear your jade often, instead of letting it become stagnant in a drawer or closet.

How to work with jade in feng shui: Wear a jade bangle or ring to protect your qi and invite abundance and prosperity.

Amethyst is another stone that is connected to abundance in feng shui. Its beautiful purple hue is the color of the Wealth area of the feng shui bagua, called Xun in Chinese. While financial wealth is one aspect of this area, it’s just one way that abundance can be expressed in your life.

Your self-worth and how you take care of yourself are also reflections of the abundance that you experience.

How to work with amethyst in feng shui: Place an amethyst crystal in your meditation area with the intention of seeing yourself as a valuable treasure.

Feng Shui Crystals for Personal Growth and Confidence

One of our favorite crystals for personal growth and confidence is selenite. Selenite is connected to the moon, and it helps you tap into your unconscious, intuitive, yin side. It can also help you to clear your mind and become more self-aware.

How to work with selenite in feng shui: Hold a piece of selenite while meditating to connect more deeply to your intuition and increase self-awareness.

Sodalite is another great crystal to work with when you want to cultivate more growth, confidence, and courage. The dark blue color of this stone is the color of the Knowledge area of the feng shui bagua, called Gen. This area is connected to self-cultivation and skillfulness. Blue is also the color of the throat chakra, which has to do with finding your voice and speaking up.

How to work with sodalite in feng shui: Place a sodalite crystal on your desk with the intention of cultivating more confidence in the way you show up in your work.
