Many people come to feng shui because they want to feel more protected and experience more luck. The way we see luck and protection is that they are both essentially about being well. As humans, feeling safe and protected is an important part of our wellbeing. When you feel safe and secure, you are better able to move through the world in a way that allows you to prosper.
If you would like to invite more luck and protection into your life, here are a three ways feng shui can help you do that:
The Command Position
In feng shui, we acknowledge that stability and safety are important to us. One way that we can create a feeling of safety in our built environments is by applying the command or commanding position. This is a concept that is especially important when it comes to your bed, your desk, and your stove. To place these items in command, you’ll want to make sure that you can see the main entrance to the room you’re in when you’re lying in bed, sitting at your desk, or cooking at your stove. You’ll also want to place these items so that they are not directly in line with the entrance to the room. If it isn’t possible to move these items into the commanding position, you can adjust this with a mirror. The mirror should be placed so that you can see a reflection of the room’s entrance while you’re in bed, at your desk, or at your stove.
When you’re in the commanding position, you feel less anxious and more in control, because you can see anything that might be coming towards you. This applies both literally and metaphorically. The command position is also the best position for inviting more luck, because it allows you to face things head on and be prepared for anything life might bring you.
When your bed is in command, you can invite more luck and protection into your personal, private life. Having your desk in the command position can help bring these qualities to your work and career. When your stove is in command, this represents luck and protection in your money and finances.
Fresh Oranges
In feng shui, oranges are connected to yang energy. Yang energy is bright and active, like the sun at high noon. Their color and shape are also related to gold coins, so they are an auspicious symbol of abundance and prosperity.
To bring luck and protection into your home with fresh oranges, try placing a bowl of them in your kitchen. Your kitchen is related to your resources, including money. It’s the part of your home where you go to nourish yourself, and when you are nourished and healthy, you are more able to go out in the world to provide for yourself.
When we recommend fresh oranges as a feng shui adjustment, we always get questions about whether it is okay to eat them — the answer is yes! As you peel each orange, you can notice its scent and color bringing vibrant, life-affirming energy to your home.
The Color Red
Red is considered to be the most auspicious color in feng shui. It symbolizes vitality, and is a great color to work with when you feel like you need a boost in energy. It also provides protection, since it can burn away negative or challenging energy. To work with red, you can bring red accents into your home or wear the color red. Keep in mind that you don’t need to paint a whole wall or wear a bright crimson dress — red is a very powerful color, and a little goes a long way. If you are feeling bold, red can be a great color to paint your front door when you want to invite more luck and prosperity into your home.
We hope these feng shui tips help you to feel more lucky and protected! Which one will you try first?
