Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, we wanted to share a few of our favorite love-related feng shui tips! Your bedroom represents you as well as your partner, so it’s one of the best places to make changes when you want to call in more love.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to do everything on this list. Choose the things that resonate with you, and have fun with it! Receiving love means different things to different people, so it’s also important to set a clear intention as you make these changes. Would you like to meet a new partner? Do you want to strengthen or shift the energy in an existing partnership? Do you need to focus on loving yourself?
Whatever your unique intention is, try making some of these feng shui changes in your bedroom to invite more love into your life:
Your bed is the part of your home that is most closely connected to you. You also spend a lot of time there sleeping and receiving the energies around you. It’s one of the most important items in your home, especially if your intention is to receive love, whether from yourself or a partner. Here are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to your bed.
First, make sure your bed is in the command position. To put your bed in command, place it somewhere in your room that allows you to see the entrance to your bedroom while you’re lying in bed, without being directly in line with the door. This puts you in a relationship to the room where you have a clear view, both literally and metaphorically, of how people and qi are flowing towards you. This means that you are also able to notice when an opportunity to connect with a potential partner arises. Sometimes we aren’t aware of the possibilities in front of us, simply because we aren’t in a position that gives us a full view of the situation. Being in command helps us to have more awareness. Also, having your bed in command makes you feel safer, which will help you open up your heart to receive love.
Next, notice if there is space for your partner in and around the bed. Is your bed big enough to fit another person comfortably? If you are an adult who wants to be in a relationship, make sure the size of your bed reflects that. Also, there should be enough space on either side of the bed for both partners to get into bed easily. If one partner has to squeeze in or climb over the other person to get into bed, that doesn’t create a balanced dynamic.
Lastly, if you have gone through a breakup or divorce and are looking for a fresh start, it’s a good idea to get a new bed. If you don’t want to get a new bed, you can also work with a feng shui consultant who can help you clear the energy of the one you have.
Bedding is an easy and fun way to apply feng shui principles to your bedroom. The first thing we would suggest is that you get the best quality bedding you can afford. On a physical level, it’s a good idea to get nontoxic bedding made of natural materials. Your skin is your largest organ, and you spend a lot of time in bed. The items you bring into your bedroom also have energetic implications. Investing in high-quality bedding is a luxurious self-care indulgence, and an opportunity to practice receiving kindness and love from yourself.
If you’d like to add in another layer of feng shui meaning, you can intentionally choose bed linens in specific colors. Here are a few of our favorites:
Earth tones: Earthy colors, like brown, beige, and terra cotta, are connected to the earth element, which is all about self-care and nourishment, as well as stability. They’re also supportive colors for sleep.
Pale yellow: Yellow is connected to the earth element as well, and it also helps support health and wellbeing.
Green and blue: Greens, teals, and mid tone blues are all connected to the wood element, which represents new beginnings. This would be a great choice if you want to start over or revitalize your qi.
White and gray: Whites and grays can be helpful if you want to simplify things and create more ease and clarity in your communication.
You definitely don’t need to paint your walls to receive more love. However, if you are redesigning your bedroom or looking for a change, painting your walls can be a powerful statement. If any of the above colors resonated with you, you could also bring them into your bedroom through paint.
We love white for walls, because it represents clarity and gives you a lot of flexibility in changing out your decor and accessories. Pink is also a good color if you really want to connect to love and romance, and peach is great for attracting a new partner. (You may want to stay away from peach, though, if you already have a partner and are not looking to attract another!)
If you’re intentionally shifting the energy in your bedroom to receive more love, there are ways that you can use artwork to do this. This doesn’t mean that you have to choose a really obvious image, like a couple dancing, if you want to invite in a partner. It also doesn’t mean that you have to get rid of art that you love if it doesn’t make sense from a feng shui perspective. Not everything in your home has to be a feng shui adjustment, and it’s also totally okay to have items in your space just because you love them.
Most importantly, choose art that you love, and avoid things that are especially heavy or symbolically loaded. Abstract paintings and soft landscapes are generally great choices for the bedroom. You can also consider the meanings of the colors listed above as you’re choosing art. If you do have a partner, pick something that you both enjoy. Choosing art can be a fun activity to do together, and it’s a good idea to make sure you both like the art in the room that you share!
It can also be helpful to work with a feng shui consultant, who may be able to see themes in the kind of art you have in your bedroom. For example, you might have several images of strong, single people, which might not be the most supportive of your current intentions. A feng shui consultant can look at your space with fresh eyes and help you notice things that you hadn’t been aware of.
We hope these tips support you as you’re opening yourself up to more love. Remember to choose the shifts that feel meaningful to you, and have fun in the process!
